He received his training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, the University of Colorado, and the Massachusetts General Hospital. He has been at the University of Texas Medical School-Houston, Department of Neurology since 1979. | |
 CLINICAL INTERESTS |
His clinical research focuses on treatment of acute stroke. He and his staff have coordinated therapeutic trials of hemodilution, calcium antagonists, and most recently thrombolytic therapy (tPA). | |
 RESEARCH INTERESTS |
His basic research is exploring calcium metabolism and the effect of pharmacologic intervention after global and focal ischemia in small animal models. | |
